Why fit in when you were born to stand out? Dr Seuss
I grew up in an environment where I was one of six children and being heard in a group of six children, you had to learn that to be heard you need to raise your voice, and be understood but my sense of self worth went beyond just living in a big family.
I was taught the value of community living in a rural setting. Growing up as a farm girl and understanding that we all had a role to play and pull together in the family environment and the operational side of the farm life work.
As a widow now in my older years and being a single mum I certainly understand what it is like to not being heard or being understood and living in a world that is so fast paced and so many people needing help in their environment one of the things that keeps me going is that sense of nurturing.
But growing up in rural Queensland, my strength and resilience stemmed from years on the land is applied just as naturally to the business landscape. I have carved out a career in private, public and not-for-profit sectors, before becoming CEO of Women’s Network Australia. I have transitioned out of that roll in December 2021, and I am now CEO of the Bostock Group.
